Who are the greatest touring acting husband and wife of 1953?
George and Charlotte Hay, that’s who.
The Hays are performing at the Erlanger Theater in Buffalo, New York, but the
real comedy can be seen backstage. Fate has given these thespians one more
shot at starring roles in The Scarlet Pimpernel epic and director Frank Capra
himself is en route to Buffalo to see their matinée performance, but which show it
will be: Private Lives or Cyrano de Bergerac?
Misunderstandings, mistaken identity and madcap misadventures are magnified
by an engaged daughter, a pregnant ingénue, and Charlotte’s deaf mother who
manages the company.
